This book demonstrates "do not judge a book by its cover"! It is definitely a dark romance and trigger warnings should be read before diving in.
I loved how Miles didn't let Willow push him too far away. He understood her trauma from her (for lack of a better word) impassive parents and what his brother, Knox did to her. He was determined to show her that he truly loved her and would never leave her. I did get a little frustrated with Miles for not communicating that when he told Willow he was in love with someone, he didn't say that it was her he was in love with. I'm pretty sure she would have picked Miles over Knox, but she didn't know that it was her that Miles was in love with and decided to get with Knox. Even though Knox didn't show it very well, he loved his brother and would do anything to keep him safe. I understand where he was coming from when he traded Willow for Miles, but to just hand her over to her certain death without a plan to get her back, was just indespicable. Miles and Willow truly showed just how much they loved each other when they were prepared to die for the other. Willow killed Freeman's brother to protect Miles just as Miles had killed Freeman to protect her. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed. I would have liked to see some more on Willow's legal repercussions of killing Freeman's brother, etc. I also would have liked to see more on Miles getting drafted to an NHL team and Willow sending her singing video to a producer.

Oh man you need to read this book. It was so good and absolutely hard to put down. I swear this arthur can do no wrong with her words. Just amazing.
Miles Whiteshaw has a secret obsession with his brother Knoxs girl Willow who by all accounts and purposes should've been his, but his brother beat him out of that, and now a year later he watches as his brother publicly humilates her over a bet, but that's ok because he's here and going nowhere and she's going to be his...forever.
Willow wants nothing to do with any hockey player and especially if their last name is Whiteshaw, so to get over what happened with Knox she's on a self destructive path, but Miles keeps showing up everywhere she is to save her. Will Miles wear her down and convince her he's nothing like his brother that he's going nowhere?

There are triggers in here so check them before reading.

The darkest book I’ve ever read, but I loved it. This confirmed my decision to read everything by S. Massery.

My favorite quote: “She’s the light that captivates my attention anywhere we go, and I loathe her for it.”

LIKE WHAT? Chef kiss.
