It absolutely killed me how long Annalise kept her identity from Owen. I understood why she did it but I just kept yearning for her to trust him fully.

I throughly enjoyed this story though. Two people who yearned for love but didn’t think they deserved it.

THE VILLAIN IS NAMED “BLOODWORTH” HOW DID PEOPLE NOT KNOW HE WAS A VILLAIN. this was almost comically bad and i only read it because it was recommended. i paid $1.99 for it but IT WAS NOT WORTH $1.99. i will put it this way. the villain is shot and killed almost comically quickly by a secondary character who was in love with him and previously to that scene had about five seconds of screen time. i had absolutely no sympathy or liking for either the hero or the heroine, and this book piled melodrama atop melodrama in a way that made you want to scream, "COULD YOU JUST BLOODY TALK TO EACH OTHER ALREADY?!"

2.5 stars.

First sign of a decent romance novel: No overuse of exclamation points. This book passes the test.

{SPOILERS}
It was trite but nice (I guess) that her limp is healed along with her leg. I didn't like that Annalise returned to her attempted murderer/abusive husband, even if it was a sacrifice for true love. Domestic abuse is really serious, and returning to a violent abuser is a terrible thing for an independent heroine to undertake at the very peak of her growth arc. The repetition towards the end about Jack's motives seemed unnecessary. The brooding (Owen) was expected but slightly overdone. The fake amnesia bit was not perfectly executed, but it was alright.

It's a fun story, with a decent heroine. I'd recommend for a light read.

Historical Romance isn’t something I normally gravitate towards but I thought the premise of the story was interesting so I wanted to give it a try. I am so glad I did. This was an excellent story!

I loved the characters. Annalise was a strong woman, never whiny or feeling sorry for herself. That was quite refreshing. I thought Owens character was really intriguing and looked forward to every detail that was revealed about his life. Annalise and Owen were great together, with a strong connection and attraction. This was such a well written story, it really created a sense of longing for me of wanting them to be together.

I really enjoyed their interactions together and it was great having a bit of adventure and intrigue thrown in. The pace was good and I couldn’t put it down. There’s a slow build with their intimacy that really made this story romantic but enough heat to keep me wanting more. I thought that slow build was totally worth it! ;-)

How to Lose a Bride in One Night is book 3 in a series but it’s a stand alone book. I’ve learned that some of the characters mentioned in this story are in the other stories as well. I’m actually interested enough that I’d read the other books in the series to learn more about them. I am so glad I tried something new and stepped outside of my box. I really enjoyed it!

The plot is particularly ridiculous.
