Interesting to learn more about one of my favourite artists, but I definitely felt it drag a bit in the second half and certain chapters felt like they didn't need to be there at all to me. But memoir's not my favourite genre so it might just be me.

Wow- what an interesting life Carole King has lead. I really liked how she has wanted to pursue her career and her art but never wanted to be a star (but still became one). I love how she stays such a regular person even when she's around celebrities. Also, enjoyed reading about her whole back to nature stage - so 70s. I really give it 3 1/2 stars - it was not as interesting towards the end.

I learned a lot about King and the musical environment she's cultivated over the years. I listened to this book, which I think enhanced my experience. King sings and plays throughout the recording, which is why I love her to begin with.

Tapestry is my jam and it was great learning more about the artist behind the music. One of my favorite gems from the book is that she considered going to OSU. Loved the bits when she broke into song - I listened to the audiobook.

3.75 rounded up. I enjoyed listening to the author read her own work. I also enjoyed learning about the beginnings of her successful career. There were sections of the story, though, that were a bit too drawn out and tedious. A good story but not the best memoir I’ve read.

Had to read Carole King's memoir after seeing "Beautiful" in London. I have a new appreciation not only for her talent, but for her humbleness and humanitarianism.
