Volume 15 stars a brief story arc that I don't like that much. Reino, the lead singer for Reino stalks Kyoko and attacks her. He gets to the point where he's unzipping the back of Kyoko's dress while she just stands there terrified. He would have gone further, but the two of them start arguing and then Sho arrives. The scene manages to be both disturbing and ridiculous. I realize that Skip Beat is silly to begin with, but this goes a little too far for me.
My favorite part of the volume, though, is Reino and Kyoko's argument while he's attacking her. She realizes that he's only doing this to get at Sho. Reino wants to destroy Sho. This statement releases all of Kyoko's demons. The only person who gets to destroy Sho is Kyoko. "He is my prey!"
Ren is mostly absent from this volume, but there is a sweet scene between him and Kyoko. The night before the attack occurs, Kyoko is scared. Reino is stalking her and she doesn't know what to do. She calls Ren up for comfort. A part of her wants to tell Ren how scared she is, but she can't do it. Still, Ren knows something is wrong and gets quite worried. I love how devoted he is towards her. He hurries from his set to get to Kyoko. Once Ren arrives, even the reader feels safer. The two of them are just great.

SO this volume felt to me like Nakamura was trying too hard to make a shojo manga, which it is, but in this volume it felt a bit forced in my opinion. Because, although I fully support making Sho realize that he loves and cares about Kyoko, it still felt a bit over the top... I seriously didn’t understand what was the deal with that Reino guy, I felt like he was only put in to enhance Ren and Sho’s feelings.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with “girly” romance manga, I just wish it was a bit less “girly”, but only because the impression I have of “Skip Beat!” Is of a shojo manga that is not as “girly” as most others in the genre. I still really enjoyed the volume, and really loved it. And I do think Reino (the beagle) was a successful plot device.
Overall a great read, just a bit weird I guess?
*disclaimer: i only used the wrong girly for lack of a better word...

I love this series so much! This wasn't my favorite volume though because, it was more of a Sho Kyoko development, instead of Ren, which was fine, except for I love Ren so i was sad he wasn't in it more!

As much as I praised the start of the Vie Ghoul arc for its humor in my book 14 review, it took a dark turn in book 15. It’s still incredibly good and I’m loving the reread, but we get all 3 male main characters involved, and it’s a lot. I’m hoping things lighten up in book 16, but I do not remember.

Reino leave our precious broken-hearted girl alone!!!! Sho being protective of Kyoko makes me confused because obviously I hate him and don't want to see him so human. How dare the author let him be a person. Hahahahaha. I do enjoy the individual Sho growth, we get to see him as more than just a spoiled brat and deal with Vie Ghoul in a cunning way. Just stay away from our Kyoko...
Moderate: Sexual assault and Stalking
