Agatha Christie's Poirot short stories are like little candies: a perfect tiny treat that satisfies and leaves you wanting more. I prefer the full-length mysteries, but that's probably just me - I generally don't like short stories as much as longer novels. However, I really enjoyed these short stories. Poirot dazzles, as usual, and Agatha Christie continues to be a go-to for me.

For me, all short story collections suffer from inconsistency. A few of these stories aren't great, but I super enjoyed the silly one at the end with the international spies and assassins.

There was a time when I would consider Agatha Christie to be one of my favourite authors, and perhaps it's because this is one of her early books that it was a flop.

The stories are fine, some of the great. Hastings has annoyed me so much throughout this collection that I found myself making notes that read "Shut up, Hastings!". And Poirot was so full of himself in every single story that it also made me cringe. It was too much.

Sometimes it was great; the use of French added character to Poirot, some more drama. Some stories are very funny.

My favourite was going to be The Adventure of the Cheap Flat, but it took a turn that I just hated...

Because the stories are so short, the reader is unable to solve the mystery alongside Poirot. For the most part the solutions are abstract with facts needed that are never revealed until the end.

Two of the stories felt like copy and paste with different characters and settings.

The case of the missing will was in the end my favourite. It was more original than the others and I really enjoyed reading that story!

Overall I can't say I fully recommend this collection. Agatha has much, much better novels that are more worthy of attention.
