I don’t typically read much sci-fi, but I really enjoyed this book! I thought she did a great job with using four narrators. Sometimes that can be difficult to balance, but I enjoyed every perspective. I really want to pick up the sequel now! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

I liked this book a Lot more than I expected. Very cool sci-fi space royalty Anastasia Romanov retelling with really, really good characters. The moment the sequel is available as an audiobook I will drop whatever I am listening to and listen to that instead.

This book reminded me a lot of Dark Matter the tv show, which I've been missing desperately. I do wish that the characters Ashley killed off that were part of Ana's crew we got to know a bit more deeply. That way we all felt a bit more deeply about their departure and could understand Ana's grief better. Aside from that, I don't really have anything else bad to say about it. I loved that it was fast paced, and the synapsis of the story wasn't just the story. I liked how she grew off of that and we ended up in a whirlwind of a tale always curious where the story would take us. I'm super excited for the sequel and can't wait to read it!

Thanks Ashley for such a great read!

Decently written in my opinion but it’s not my cup of tea. I struggled to like any of the characters or develop any attachment to the story.

Anastasia meets Treasure Planet in this SciFi fairytale retelling.

I received this book in the March 2018 OwlCreate box and was so stoked to start after reading the description. Overall I enjoyed the story and the world it is set in, although certain aspects I felt were not fully fleshed out, especially concerning the AI Androids. The constant switching between perspectives also felt not fully developed, especially when more than one of the perspective characters where in a scene. There are definitely times it was hard to remember whose perspective the chapter was being told from. That being said it is an engaging story with mystery around ever corner (or chapter I guess).

I pre-ordered this book months ago because it sounded interesting. I had no idea just how much I would love it! I love all the characters, I love the plot, I love the... things that happened!! The writing was beautiful as well, and I love how the author hands out little tidbits of information at a time like puzzle pieces. I have been put off by YA fantasy/sci-fi lately, because so many of them have been too predictable. I did not foresee most of the things that happened in Heart of Iron! I will admit, though, that the editing was a bit rough, especially at the beginning. There were a lot of repeated words, spelling errors and sentences changing from past to present tense. This did tend to pull me out of the story a bit, but things started to flow more smoothly the further I got into the story.

If I had to plug Heart of Iron, I'd say it's for fans of The Lunar Chronicles, Throne of Glass and... maybe Firefly. Throw in some LGBTQ characters and some robots and you've got yourself Heart of Iron! While it does have elements of each of these books in it, the overall storyline, especially the ending, is unique and refreshing. I can't wait for Book 2, and to see what happens next and how this band of misfit outlaws is going to fix everything. I don't think I've been this excited over a new series since ACOTAR.

Oh my god. OH MY GOD. This is one of my favourite books of ALL TIME and the fact that it’s so underrated is criminal.

If Anastasia and Treasure Planet had a baby, it would be this book…and if you know me, Treasure Planet is my favourite Disney film ever.

This is an absolutely epic fantasy set in space, tonnes of action, an incredible found family, diversity and the most badass FMC.

You truly do get thrown straight into the world building so it takes a minute to find your bearings, but when you do it’s just the most wonderfully crafted storyline. Like I say, there is always action. You do not have time to relax, it’s just always keeping you on your toes.

Honestly I could not recommend this enough, I am buying the sequel immediately.

- M/M romance
- F/M romance (teeny tiny)
- Space, spaceships and space travel
- Robots. Good and bad.
- Found family of space outlaws
- Multiple POV
