I like Butcher's characters better than I like his writing style.

Misterija, magija i atmosfera krimića... Mešavina Feliksa Kastora i Noćne straže, lako za čitanje i veoma zanimljivo.

I finally read Dresden! I haven't read much urban fantasy, and this is one of the main staples of the genre, so I'm glad to have dipped my toes.

I knew a lot about the series before I picked it up -- I know that the first few books are a bit "lacking" compared to the rest of the series, and that the main character grows a bit and develops a bit more. Also, the story apparently introduces some bigger plot arcs. Whatever.

For this book, I liked it enough. It was snappy and cynical and quick. I liked Dresden's main character narration, although I don't love him as a character...I don't know how to justify that in my head, but it is what it is. He's a bit one-dimensional for now, and kind of a cliche "white knight" type of dude.

That was really my main gripe with the book. For the most part, everything else seemed promising. I don't normally love traditional wizard type spell magic, but the P.I./special investigator angle was a nice way of making up for that. I'll definitely read more of the series, but certainly won't make it a huge priority where it jumps up my to-read list.

I loved this book! I found Harry Dresden to be a very relatable and likable character, I loved the story line it kept me wanting to know more the entire time, this was just such an easy and fun read.
All in all I LOVED this book and can't wait to continue on with the series. The has become one of my favorite books of the year.

Really enjoy this series; fun, smart-ass kind of writing; book noir with a side of fantasy - elves, demons and the like

Is it appropriate to rate a book 4 ⭐ mostly due to the audio book narrator being a 10\10? Listen, the book itself is fairly good, definitely a fun and quick read. But that narration really takes it to the next level.
