Thank you to Dreamscape Select and NetGalley for an ARC of this audiobook.

I have been enjoying this series so far and was so excited to read this book after the cliff-hanger ending to book 2.

I struggled a little for the first couple of hundred pages, but once the story started to move along I was hooked. J.M. Kearl has clearly decided to destroy us all with this love triangle!! After making us all fall in love with Thane for two books I was shook by how much I loved Hel.

The audiobook narrators were fantastic, and I really felt like I slipped into the world of the story - I highly recommend listening.

I find this book and series wildly entertaining. I love the individual character interactions and their larger relationships. And I love the basic concepts of the world and plot.

However, I find the details of the world and plot to be under-developed. This book also took a very sharp turn from the first two as to what the Amin conflict is, without satisfyingly resolving the first conflict. I have so many questions about the world and plot that and while reading the story it doesn’t bother me because I enjoy speculating and filling in the blanks. When reflecting upon it however I have to fill in the blanks for everything to make sense to me.

This book introduces two new characters that I absolutely love, but they do come at the expense of abandoning the majority of the characters that we have come to know up until this point. I liked the new ones better so I didn’t care, but I could see others caring.

I did find I had predicted most of the plot by the time I got to it, but the journey was fun because as I said earlier I liked the intimate and mundane moments.

To sum up, I think they are some significant gaps and problems with the world building and plot, but I don’t really care because I loved seeing the characters live and react through the moments.
