with all the good reviews about it I expected to like this book I loved the first chapters it was interesing and dark but it turned quickly to something boring, and listening to the audiobook made it worst

I really love the premise of this book and I think it started off strong. I think Paul Tremblay is a really talented writer, and the prose itself was never an issue for me in fact I admired it. There's also some really good body horror in this book. I do think it dragged a bit especially during the middle of the book, and the pacing was wonky and I slugged through this section of the book. After a certain event though the book definitely picked up momentum again heading towards the end, and my interest and intrigue started coming back. I like how Tremblay decided to end things and actually love the ambiguity. I definitely still enjoyed this book, it was not a favorite by any means, but I am interested in reading more of Tremblay's books.

I didn’t like the ambiguous ending and the only redeeming quality was the gay couple. Literally the slowest thing ever.
