I don't often read things in one sitting anymore, but this book transfixed me unlike any other. The ambiguity, the viscerality, the perspective, all of it left me utterly engrossed. I'm gonna have to sit with this one for a bit. Also, as a note, some of the trigger warnings added are, to some extent, dependent on what conclusion you make of the ambiguity. I've added them just in case.

I thought this was so chilling! It was a quick read but certainly not for everyone. I like how the author uses very intentional symbolism (hint: pay attention to the color yellow). This is the second book by Paul Tremblay I’ve read, and I think I liked A Head Full of Ghosts more. There is some weird POVs in this book, but they were mostly successful and clear although I did get confused at some points. Over all, if you like horror and don’t have any upcoming glamping plans, The Cabin at the End of the World is worth a read!

I was utterly transfixed by this book. I'd put it off for so long because "house invasion thriller" isn't my favourite subgenre but Cabin has a twist to it that makes the story so fascinating, the characters are incredible, the way it's written is fantastic... and the way he plays with ambiguity, holy hell. Chef's kiss. I *still* don't know what happened and I'm GLAD about it!! There were a few lines I highlighted just because they had me going, "Wow... what a line." Sheesh. Well now I need to obtain more Tremblay books, I guess. I've certainly got Horror Movie, his 2024 release, on preorder already.

A really tense and interesting read. The ambiguity of the circumstances the characters are stuck in makes you unsure of who to root for, of who is right and who is wrong, but that makes it all the more engaging.

This had a super gripping start, a really interesting and intriguing idea behind why the strangers are demanding to be let inside the cabin, pretty great antagonists and believable characters, a writing style that worked really well for the tension, but then there was that ending. Without the disappointment that was the end, this could’ve easily been 4*s or more.
