Only read up to the fourth issue.
Manic and chaotic manga that is mostly aiming to be funny and light hearted. Didn't like the super rich blase kids very much, nor the poor wallflower that is adopted by them.
Also not much of the story made sense.

I struggled with this one. I have heard a lot of good things, but it bounces around SO much that I had trouble following it.
The core concept is easy to grasp; however, the characters are so frequently talking over each other, or interjecting random things, that I felt lost a lot of the time.
I think this is something I have to go and watch, as I can see it translating better to an anime format; however, as it stands I don't really see the draw...

This is such a popular series I am going to keep reading since reviewers assure me the series gets better but after reading Volume 1 I am not a fan. There is too much text, leaving each panel feeling cluttered and the artwork makes it really difficult to tell the different characters apart. The plot also seems a little disjointed.
Haruhi, a scholarship student at an elite and wealthy high school, breaks an expensive vase and in the process, in debts herself to the Host club. The Host club is a group of wealthy boys with too much time on their hands, entertaining wealthy girls with too much time on their hands (paraphrased from the book). To pay off the debt, Haruhi pretends to be a boy and works off her debt as a member of the club. As the series continues, the characters struggle with friendships, relationships, and their families.
I don’t have a lot of experience with manga, however this was amazing! It was wonderfully cheesy, dramatic, and had a lovable cast of characters. The plot was not always believable, but it was a great distraction from everyday problems. I would recommend it to those who like the overly dramatic and cheerful; those who like romances will especially like it. As for an age, I would say no younger than seventh grade. The most the characters do is kiss. There are little to no swears either.

Goofy and fun, very nostalgic for me. Gender stuff still holds up suprisingly well!
I know a fair bit of what’s going to happen going into this just from seeing snippets of the anime on TikTok, but the manga moves WAY quicker than I thought the story would.
*SPOILER WARNING*
Like I really saw the whole Haruhi being secretly a girl thing being a big plot point spread out over a couple volumes. But instead it’s discovered in literally the first chapter so I was like ????
Could benefit from some extending of plot points/tension (other than Tamaki’s evidently growing crush) but is still really good.
