AFTERWORLD: LOSING SALVATION sets the stage for Jax and Kate's story and I'm really interested to see what happens next. The writing was so fast paced and I felt like I was watching a movie with all the action. We got a basic introduction to what the world has become and I can't wait to explore more of this wasteland!

I can tell already that Jax is going to be a complicated character and I'm not sure how I'll ultimately feel about him. He clearly regrets his choices and he's never fully supported the Devil's Army but he was still a member of their cult even after becoming an adult who could make his own choices and he still contributed to the end of the world happening.

While I'm not sure about Jax yet, I loved Kate and she's obviously a badass. She's lost her family, which was heartbreaking, but she never gives up and she's ready to fight for her survival no matter how hard it'll be. Finding Hank, a former police K-9, has given her a new purpose and I can already tell they'll have a strong bond.

Content Warning: cults, human sacrifice, gore, off page death of a loved one, off page death of a child, brief mention of suicide

A short prequel to Afterworld: Road to Redemption, Afterworld: Losing Salvation introduces the person who directly contributed to unleashing the Four Horsemen and thus the end of the world, plus one of the survivors.

Though it is only two chapters long, it is a well-written prequel. The chapters tease at the action to come in the following books.

The prequel is dark and might be triggering to some readers. The authors have listed all tw/cw on their website. https://oliviaboothe.com

I didn't take a star away for this, but honestly, these two chapters should have just been included with Road to Redemption instead of as an incentive to sign up for the authors' newsletter.
