Honestly, this book is closer to a 4.5 for me, but I'm going to give it a 5 because I think the 3.29 it currently has at the time of this writing is way too low.

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books of all time, and I think "Nick" is a fantastic complement to it. The prose is beautiful, and the chapters with Nick in the war and in Paris will keep you turning the page. Unfortunately I think the author spends too much time focusing on side characters once Nick reaches New Orleans, but it's such a quick read that it's easy to get through that part.

I also listened to the audiobook as I read, and the narrator did a great job at capturing the character of Nick.

Tho it wasn’t what I expected it to be, I did enjoy this book a lot! I wasn’t incredibly fond of the New Orleans story line, but it was still good.

Dopishly misunderstanding the point of Gatsby's narrator, Michael Farris Smith writes a pat adventure turned melodrama starring the now heroically cast Nick Carraway. In other words: not very good.

If this was a stand alone book and didn't have the pull of Gatsby then it could have done better, the writer uses the word "and" far too much.

I didn’t want to put this book down, but when I turned to the very last page, I closed it and sat for a few minutes and reflected on all I had just read and all I remembered about “The Great Gatsby.” The final page lived up to all of my expectations. Michael Farris Smith did not disappoint!! If you are a fan of Gatsby, you need to read this book!

2 1/2 stars. Still not quite sure how I feel about this one...

A story where the protagonist has no real motivations and what seems like an infinite supply of money, ends up not being that interesting. It just mindlessly moves from place to place. This book feels like a cash-grab of The Great Gatsby that I embarrassingly fell for.

The story has potential, this book does not. The writing was difficult to follow, full of run on sentences, dialogue with no quotation marks, and switching from 3rd to 1st person. It seemed like any story about any person and had little connection or foreshadowing to The Great Gatsby. This could have been done so much better.
