I don't understand the complaints about how the Riddleyspeak is pointless or difficult to understand - to paraphrase Hoban himself in the afterword the reader who sounds things out and uses a little imagination can understand it, and that hurdle is worth all the benefits Riddleyspeak brings to the novel. You know when you see/ read/ watch something and you’re like ‘wow I love what you did with this medium. This is an amazing artwork congrats’ but then you don’t super love the work on a more personal and intimate level?

It’s like I think this is objectively great but on a personal note not really for me, thank you, well done?

Those are my main feelings about this book.
