This reminded me a lot of The Immortals After Dark series. But I can only give it three stars because I would rather read Kresley Cole than this. I didn't fall head over heels for Madox and I downright didn't like the heroine. The world building was the best part of the story. Again though I kept comparing it to IAD and finding that I enjoyed it more than this book. If you haven't already read the other series I think you'll enjoy The Darkest Night more than I was able to.

This was an interesting take on the whole Pandora's box story. The premise reminded me of the Black Dagger Brotherhood books with each book highlighting a member of a close-knit group. But that's where the similarities end. This book focuses on Maddox who houses Violence. It was a great quick read. I look forward to the rest of the books in the series.

Contains some sexy times.

Let me start by saying that this is NOT my typical read. However, it’s one of my bestie’s favorite series (she’s a paranormal romance addict!), so I decided to give it a try. Normally when I go for adult books, I go for urban fantasy; I like more story and less sexy times. I need a strong plot and strong characters. Sexual tension is nice, but if there’s no storyline, I get bored. Anyway, I gave this book three stars because although I didn’t love it, it does set up an intriguing story line for the series. Immortals who are half gods and half demons? Interesting concept. The Darkest Night revolves around Ashlyn (a girl who, wherever she is, can hear all of the conversations that ever took place in that physical location) and Maddox (who is possessed by the demon Violence), and I honestly wasn’t that excited about their story (talk about instalove!), but I find myself wanting to know what happens to the other characters in this book.

Oh yeah, why did I wait so long to start this series? Definitely gonna binge read the rest of these books.

I love a good PNR and this was super fun and I have a few guys I wanna know more about.

Sweet couple. I believe that this is going to be an awesome series.

I loved the Lords, but there were so many of them. It was hard to keep track of all the new characters that were introduced. I got their names and abilities down, but I have no idea what most of them look like. I know she described them, but it was lost in all the details. Too many characters. I know this was the first book in the series, however, and now that they've been introduced, I hope we can focus more on the main characters in the next books. I felt that Ashlyn and Maddox's story wasn't given as many pages as it should have. We got their story, but it seemed rushed since there was so much going on with the other Lords being introduced. I also noticed that Maddox talks like a caveman during sex...

I had mixed feelings about this book. While it was a good story overall, I thought the love story moved too quickly. Maddox & Ashlyn couldn't live without each other from the first moment they met. I realize it was a paranormal novel, but I like the story besides the creatures to be somewhat realistic. The love story just didn't feel real to me. However, the rest of the story was good, so I'm willing to give the next book a try.

great book. I love the ending. it did not end how I predicted, but so much better. it seemed to move along a little slow sometimes, but other than that I love it. I can't wait to start the next book in the series.
