I couldn’t relate to the instant affection of Ashlyn and Maddox for each other. There hasn’t been outlined any good reason why the reader should ship them. They immediately fell for each other. There was no twisted plot twist that made you think “ omg they belong to each other”.
I liked the beginning of the book and the story could have been handled much better - but the potential of the story hasn’t been exploited.

Ha! So stupid but in that amazing, fun way! And the world building was actually somewhat interesting. Men containing demons like wrath, death, disease, violence, pain, promiscuity, distrust, misery, disaster, and lies, find love??? Oh my god, sign me up!! Was this good? No. But was it bad? No. I will definitely be continuing the series!
i couldn't finish this book. it was too stupid. about as much plot as a porno.
DNF @ about 45% or so. This might’ve been annoying to me because of how the narrator read the voices.
That and I just didn’t dig the characters. Plus the whole Paris thing is super gross.
Also - they’ve been around since the beginning of time and the only ones who seem to have picked up a damn book in that time is the death guy and the disease one. The rest sound super backward and I get that the women they’ll fall in love with (given how these types of things are written) will change that but it just feels tedious.
I read contemporary romance by this author and loved it. The guys were normal and great.
I’ve read other books with creepy ancient god dudes that are hot and sexy. There’s a balance that just isn’t struck in these.

I really like this interesting world that Gena Showalter has created. I like Ashlyn and Maddox. She's a strong female character and Maddox compliments her very well. It was slightly weird how they just kinda kept her locked up, but I guess it still makes a good story. I will definitely be reading more of the story as it's an interesting concept.
This is an interesting book. Not much happens, but I actually enjoyed what was happening? That is not typical for me--I usually need more plotlines.
I guess, first and foremost, the sex is suuuuuper hot. So that was fun. However, this was not a true love story. It was more of an insta-love trope, which is not my favorite. There was somewhat of a love story, but not enough to be mentionable. If you put facts and reason and logic aside, then you can enjoy these characters as they enjoy one another.
I think the characters were quite interesting. I think this book really set up the plot for futures ones, but in a way that wasn't boring.
The one sad part about this book was that there were many characters, all possessed with different demons. I am lost as to which demon possesses who, so that was kinda annoying.
Overall...this was just a fun, mindless read. Good, but not enough for me to be ultra obsessed.

Although this isn’t often my go-to when I want to read a Gena Showalter book, I never fail to read it when it’s time for a reread of the entire series. It never fails to make me cry at the end, when Maddox has to watch Reyes stab Ashlynn over and over.
Also, rereading this now, after having just finished The Wrath, makes me more than ever kiss her older style of writing where she has a few storylines for different characters going. It was nice at first when she switched from that, but I miss it now.

This book was light on plot, light on character development, and heavy on world-building.
The paranormal aspect, immortal Greek warriors with demons trapped inside them, is a cool concept. The romance aspect... not so cool. I get the instant-attraction deal but this was pushing that to the limits.
To make matters worse, I could not get into either character-- Maddox or Ashlyn. The secondary character were much more interesting. Particularly Lucien (Death) and Paris (Promiscuity) and Gideon (Lies).
I plan to continue this series due to the promise of better plots and better developed characters. The reviews of later books seem to improve... And my favorite PNR author, Kresley Cole, is a big Lords fan - so I have hope for this series yet.
