I'm speechless...

What a truly heart-breaking, beautiful and powerful story. I don't know what else to say, except that it will definitely stick with me.

It's official I love Colleen Hoover. Now I don't know when I'll actually be able to handle one of her books again but I will one day. Okay now what your probably actually reading this for. Here is my review! I seriously don't know where to start. That was so many emotions wrapped into one book. But I will say I didn't cry like I thought I was going to cry, I teared up when they were in the delivery room but I didn't fall on cry. But I would definitely see where somebody would cry, I definitely put this book off because I thought I was going to full on sob from everything I heard. But I guess people can be a tad little bit over dramatic. Anyways I definitely love this book and it is really good for people who like emotional wrecking stories, now I don't know if I'm going to read Lily and Atlas story if it's sad because I don't think I could do that but we'll see when reviews come out about it. I was listening to an audiobook and reading the actual book so I don't know if it's just me but I really really hated how they did Ryle's voice. Now I also see where people are coming from where they hate Ryle because I don't like him either but there are parts of the book where he's like really funny and it seems like he would actually care if he was a real person. I do like at the moment where he does sign the divorce papers and like the moment where she's asking him what he would do if their daughter was in that situation but most of the time I did hate him unless he said something funny. Anyways that's my review I know it's really long but I had a lot of thinking I had to do.

It Ends With Is. My first Colleen Hoover novel. Book 3 for 2023. I thought as I began to read this it would be predictable but it wasn’t at all. I didn’t expect certain turns and I’m not sure if it was because I felt incredibly emotional today but I literally cried towards the end.
I felt the ending was a little rushed but I guess It Starts with Us will fill in that ending. Question is though do I want to read it straight away or pick up another one of my growing pile of books in my to read pile. Decisions decisions.
If you enjoy a easy read to lose yourself in I do recommend this book. TW however as it does contain issues involving domestic violence but the strength of the female characters in this is pretty powerful. Sacrifice and strength.

This book was definitely a page turner that kept me reading and guessing all the way until the end. The topics discussed were difficult but believable and I enjoyed reading it. I am a fan of strong female main characters and this definitely fit that bill. This was my first Colleen Hoover book but won't be my last!

Less one star than the 5 star just because i hate how the early chapters that i have to endure the super long journal writing. I admire on how the character manage walk away from her husband despite of the immense feelings she has for her husband.

(4.5) Uhhh yeah. This book was a moment. In fact, I was so into the backstory of Atlas and Lily’s relationship that I read it in one night. The lost sleep was very worth it.

The only thing I think was a slight pitfall was the fact that I thought this was going to be more of a romance. I mean, of course it has those elements, both in Lily’s past and her newfound relationship with Ryle, but the brunt of the latter had no romantic payoff for me, because I knew how it would end up. Because I went into it knowing Ryle was going to become abusive, I figured there would be more development in the present with Atlas as she moved from Ryle to him and there wasn’t much.

However, that slight letdown was nothing when compared to how emotionally devastating the cycle of abuse was portrayed. It was very powerful, very moving and a great glimpse into the eyes of someone who is being abused but can’t seem to get away because of emotional connections to their abuser. The entire time I was begging Lily in my thoughts to just leave him every time he showed red flag behavior, and she didn’t. I thought this was a clever way to show how abusive relationships look different on the inside than they do on the outside. We as the reader are not in love with Ryle, so it’s much easier for us to give him a “fuck you, I’m out” than it is for her.

Another thing I found done well that sort of tied into that is the red flag behavior he exhibited before they were even together. I mean, knocking on twenty seven peoples’ doors just to find her to beg her for sex is about as glaring as you can get. I feel like the coercion he did mirrors a lot of what’s done in real life, especially because girls are supposed to take such creepy behavior as “flattering” like Lily did.

But enough about that dirtbag. Let’s talk about the star of this story, Atlas. His story with Lily was so sweet and he was so overwhelmingly supportive of her even from day one while protecting her against her abusive father. Even thinking about their love story documented through letters to Ellen (which is hilarious, by the way) makes me emotional. They’re so adorable. It was the perfect blend of angsty “we can’t be together” and their undying love for each other that would keep bringing them back. And the ending when she finally took him back was so hopeful. The perfect ending, tbh. And that last line man. 10/10 would recommend.
