This was overly angsty, the main characters weren’t particularly likable, and all the emotions felt forced on the reader. There was no chemistry between characters and insta-love instead. I finished it because Saskia Maarleveld narrated and my next Libby book wasn’t available yet, but I kind of missed the point of this? It wasn’t awful, I just didn’t enjoy it very much.

DID NOT FINISH: 5%

I just don’t find myself drawn to read this. I may have had too many other books going and fighting for my attention. I may return to this at another time.

nothing revolutionary, but a sweet, wholesome read. romance x uncovering a family secret. i enjoyed this!

An enjoyable enough read, but I feel like it never quite got to a satisfying place with any of the character development, conflict, or mystery. No one faces any serious consequences or follows a narrative thread to its conclusion. But the trope of an outsider going to stay with a rich Scottish family in their castle and meeting the hot son is always fun.

A book, more than anything else, about motherhood

This was a fast read… I think because of the characters’ repressed pace of self discovery, which made me wonder when and if everything would be revealed. I did not love the multiple POVs since they were so inconsistent and felt a bit distracting. I think just sticking with Pen’s perspective throughout would have been more effective. Despite that, this was a fun story of university loved, with an overlaid consideration of motherhood and family.
