It took me about 100 pages to start to enjoy reading this book. About that point, it felt like the storylines and characters had moved out of this awkward establishing phase and flowed. It was a coming of age story that I found enjoyable and aspects of Pen and who she is relatable to. I thought the author did a great job interweaving different secondary character POVs in just enough to give them dimension and give the reader a fuller story. I also loved escaping to the UK. I didn't think the book needed Alice's parts - the book still could've had her story but didn't need her POV as much as it has it.
I am not the right reader for this book. If you’re a young woman, you’ll probably enjoy it.
