Nah she’s definitely a racist, not just an islamophobe. And the audiobook narrator nearly made me lost my hearing from all the screaming (which doesn’t make sense since a phone or a door bell rings and she starts screaming, it seems to me that these were added as a sort of a groan in the book not a scream).
As for the things I heard that made me want to stop:
1. Using “oriental” to describe a Filo man
2. “Not Muslim I hope. I don’t think you find much forgiveness in a faith that lops people’s hands off for stealing bread buns.” And this is a direct quote 😶
Yeah I’m not interested in getting hearing loss from this audiobook. So I decided to go through the last book since I have it and will be donating it this week if I don’t like it. Most probably I won’t keep them around.

There are snippets of the book that are enjoyable, and I like that this one loosely adapts Persuasion the way the first book loosely adapted Pride and Prejudice. However, long stretches of the book are kind of insufferable, and it’s annoying to read through them to get to the good bits (and the good bits aren’t worth it).
