I was starting to become bored by this series, but.... it finally happened!! I literally screamed and got all flustered at that scene! Now there's all this angst and tension and I'm loving it!! Take a hint, Janet Evanovich!

Much better

Much more drama and thrills than repetitive high jinks! Much improved! Thanks for the welcome change of pace! Love the ladies

A firm favourite when it comes to a series. Always a fun read.

These books are like Murder She Wrote meets the Marx Brothers---humor, hijinks, a light mystery, savvy characters, ironic dialogue. In each story, Fortune, a government asset undercover in a small Southern town, teams up with her best friends, two women senior citizens who were in the military in their younger days. They are bold, sassy, unstoppable, and exactly the friend/mother figures hurting Fortune needs. Fortune is an expert at espionage but not so much at life. (The three women feature much more in every book than any slight romance thread.) Overall good fun, especially when teamed up with the narration of Cassandra Campbell. (No strong language or gratuitous scenes of any kind.)
