Absolutely incredible. Inspirational. Life changing. Everyone should read this book. I wish I would have read this a few years ago, so that I could have met Dave Eggers and Valentino when they were at OSU. It would have been a huge honor to have met them both.
Inspiring story told from the perspective of a man who escapes war torn Sudan. Stunning. I loved it.
Had to stop at pg 311 due to an over run amount of school reading reqs but I had really liked the book so far. Will pick it up again after the crazy calms a bit.

One of my favorite books is A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. He is an amazing writer and the story is even more amazing as it is true.
An incredible book.....a harrowing story of survival and never losing sight that something good may be around the corner. It really is mind blowing what some individuals endure in their lifetime.
Next time you're whining because the coffee shop screwed up your order and your favorite skirt got a hole in it and you're mad at your boyfriend because he keeps leaving the seat up and you just don't know why the Universe is conspiring against you, read this book. Achak's contemporary life story-involving genocide, starvation, man-eating lions, refugee camps, muggings, beatings, sad jobs, bad health care, and more friends and family dying than you can shake a stick at--will force you to shut your pie hole. And of course Achak's story is channeled through the great writing talent of Dave Eggers, so there are long winding sentences, copious beautiful analogies, and surprisingly, a lot of humor.
Awesome book. I would have given it five stars, except it was so depressing I could only take a little bit at a time, so it took me forever to finish.
What an incredible journey this man endured. To see and to lose so much, but to continue to trudge forward is inspiring. I can't begin to fathom the half of his hardships and to think, he waited so many years to see his parents again. so many! I also feel much more informed on the war in Sudan...
