I’d like to read it in a more suitable age. To be honest, I have read it (partially) in that age. But it was Russian translation, and one should read original text to understand why this novel is called one of the best.
And now I have a problem - I want to recommend this book to my son (the eldest for now), but I return to the question of the language: wait until he mastered English enough (this is not an easy book for a non-native speaker) or give him a translated book, which is not as good as original.

It is clear why this is a classic. A delightful tale of childhood in the mid 1800s. Some troubling language, but true to the time period.
