“Every person that I know, every person conscious of themselves and their potentials … we all want to make an impact, a contribution, to work on something that matters to us. I’m on a new path that I’m carving on my own. I’m young and a little insecure, but I’m making a difference, even if small.”
2.5 stars.
I added this book to my tbr last year because it reminded me of the TV show Scandal and I just had to read it... let me tell you, this absolutely did not meet my expectations.
I was enjoying it at first, but the farther I got into it, the more I started to wonder what was between the characters other than sex that was worth all that angst?? Angst that had no reason to be as their forbidden love is super forced and makes no sense. They're both single adults with no scandal following them, why would it be SO bad if people found out about them?
Anyway, I'll see if this gets better next book and I hope the characters will form a deeper bond that goes beyond just sex. But I don't know when I'll care enough to read it.

Matthew Hamilton for President! Why can we not have candidates such as this? I would vote for him in a second. I am totally and completely in love with Matthew and this book. Matthew is sweet, romantic, charming and utterly sexy. I love that Charlotte is her own person as well. She is strong and smart and caring. She is perfect for Matthew. Unfortunately their road to love is not smooth, but I love seeing their journey. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next books. I am biting my nails to find out what the author has in store for this couple.
Mr. President is one of the best books I've ever read.
If we had a candidate like Matthew Hamilton, I would work on his campaign. No lie. His beliefs, his love of this country and the people... unprecedented.
I love that he remains positive in the darkness that is the world surrounding him. I love that he truly believes he can change the White House and America, and I love that he inspires Americans to believe the same.
Charlotte's love of Matthew and the country, and the change she knows he will make, *shakes my head and fights back tears* She's selfless.
While Katy Evans had me wishing for a real life candidate like Matthew, she also had me believing in love and that it's possible to have it all. It IS possible with a woman like Charlotte by his side... yet my heart is broken. I cried for them both. I felt personal.
This book broke my heart. I hope it'll heal as I get to read Commander-In-Chief when it comes out next year.

read it because i was watching scandal and this book was just what i was looking for
The entire book:
Charlotte: I love Matt. He’s going to change the world. He’s so hot. I want to fuck him, but I can’t. (My whole personality centers around Matt btw)
Matt: she’s so shy and amazing and talented but I can’t fuck her because I don’t want to subject her to life married to a politician.
Charlotte: I can’t resist him even though he’s my boss. This is so wrong. I’m going to make him lose the election. But I feel him in my female parts (literally wtf with that)
Matt: I can’t resist her. I want her. I need her. Let’s fuck anyway. And also you should work for me at the White House when I get elected.
(This part was weird. If you didn’t want to subject her to a life of taking the backseat to politics as your wife, how would it be any better to keep her as a mistress in the White House)
Charlotte: I don’t want to do that. Let’s continue this even though it can’t go anywhere.
The public: matt you should get married and have a First Lady for optics
Matt: I can’t it’s not part of my persona.
Charlotte: let’s keep fucking in secret even though it’s hurting both of us. I love you. I’m going to cry about it now.
Matt: I’m so self sacrificing and tortured. Go on a date with me when I get elected?
Charlotte: I’m ruining everything for you Matt.
(But why???? Who said you couldn’t be tighter? Matt. There’s literally nothing stopping you two. Ugh)

The fact that this is the only quote worth mentioningy’all know how much I love adding quotes to reviews plus it was his mom talking.. speaks volumes.
To sum up, Charlotte is the daughter of a senator and met the president's son, Matthew, when she was 11. After their first encounter "meet cute" she sent him a letter thanking him for his visit and offering her help if he decided one day to run for the presidency. A decade later, he invited her to join his presidential campaign..
Charlotte, I liked her character for the first couple chapters and thought the story about her having a crush on Matt’ since childhood was cute. But when this turned out as being her constant and only thoughts; the plot-line became boring. It’s like the author painted and attributed her personage only personality trait being half in love with Matthew when the only things she knew about him was that one; he was gorgeous, two; he was tall and handsome, three; he was nice with her when she was a kid. See what I mean?
Matthew, so when he started talking and highlighting how her "nipples got hard" the very next day they met again.. I lost it
" You want to use the White House to change the world, and I’ll support you.” She walks over to me and pulls me into her arms to speak in my ear. “But it changes you before you can change a centimeter of it,"

Wow Katy. Just...wow. This novel was so incredible. I have always adored your writing style, but you absolutely killed it with this one. I know this was not supposed to be a political novel in any way, shape, or form. It is most definitely one hell of a romance novel. But I must say, Matt Hamilton (as fictional as he may be) is a President I could get behind! I can tell that you put quite a bit of thought and research into this novel, and boy did it ever pay off! Stunning, sexy, and beautifully written. I cannot wait for the next chapter. 5+ well deserved stars! One of the best I've read this year.
