I am such a fan of old Hollywood and all the black and white movies of the past. I loved learning about this couple. What a passionate and heartbreaking romance they had! This book was INCREDIBLY well researched. There was SO much detail. Perhaps more detail than I was always interested in. For example, there were long explanations of each of Elizabeth's jewellery pieces that I wasn't terribly interested in, but I'm sure these were fascinating details for other readers. The first half of the book was really interesting and then it started to feel really long and was harder to be motivated through. Still, I enjoyed this book and I was very impressed with the scope of research that contributed to all the quotes, stories, and varying perspectives of the love story between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. I found it fun to watch some of the movies that they mentioned, all while knowing the stories behind many of the scenes. This was a really amazing and thorough book. But I only recommend it if biographies of old Hollywood actors is your thing.

"So I have decided that for a second or two, the precious potential of you in the next room is the only thing in the world worth living for. After your death there shall only be one other and that will be mine."

Interesting story of a passionate love but the writing wasn't very good and the book could have used a better editor.

I haven't read a biography about any old Hollywood stars, so this was interesting. This book allowed me to reflect on how some people choose to live their lives, where pleasure is their no.1 priority. Usually, reading a biography, you understand the persons life and POV better, making you empathise with them. I finished this book hating both Elizabeth and Richard. They were not very good people in a lot of ways. Their top priorities included making money and spending money. I do recommend this book though because its eye opening to a completely different life style. Also, Richard saying he's in love with Elizabeth but still cheating on her is BS. It was disgusting how romanticised cheating was throughout the book. It was portrayed as a product of passion and love while it is truly just the product of people who have no regard for other peoples feelings.
