This is the absolute great book to read around October. Full of witchy fun and enchanting characters, this story even had witch familiars which was absolutely adorable to see them on page, I highly recommend this if you’re in the mood for some fun spooky read.

Holy smokes, talk about a bummer. This is not the type of book who’s chapters can be sustained at 1 hour a piece. The conversation was all over the place. I have no idea what they’re talking about or who they’re talking to. I definitely thought this would be a great story. I’ll admit, I didn’t give it much of a chance, but I’m not struggling through a book that is not at all interesting just to get a little action later. Super disappointed.

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A brilliant trio of novellas written by three brilliantly talented YA authors, Chokshi, Menon, and Skye have knocked this witchy, Halloween romance anthology out of the park! I fell in love with each one of the protagonists--and loved the various ways they fell in love and how they intersected. (Also, can we please get a prequel novel of Mr. Brightside and Mayor Grimjoy? Please? Pretty please?)

This book was compared to Let It Snow and those are some big shoes to fill. I was hopeful after the first story (I believe that one is Chokshi's) that reminded me of Devi/Ben in Never Have I Ever (I mean that as a compliment). But the unbelievability of the other two was really hard to suspend my disbelief for (this in a book of short stories that I was prepared to be about love potions) and made me annoyed as the book wore on, especially Sandhya Moon's story about True. That one made me eye roll-y enough that I started marking pages that were so unbelievable I couldn't handle it. Things like: "'You just...appeared out of nowhere'...'You're somewhat of a surprise to me, too'" exchange trust me, he did not appear out of nowhere, I know 0 teens who use the word somewhat and this was pure cheeseville) and later Onny uses the word "indeed" and I'm like ORLY?!.

Update: it has been 5 days and I'm still mad about this one. Why were all three of these teens obsessed with their science teacher and the mayor? They all comment on them and it felt like the authors being like DON'T WORRY, EVERYONE, THESE ARE FUNNY COOL ADULTS.

YA magical romance - three connected novellas. I read this because of the author.
Getting two stars as a romance is a 3 or 4 star in other genres for me

Thank you MacMillan for an ARC of Three Kisses One Midnight

Three Kisses one Midnight is the story of 3 friends. Each story is told independently but they occurs at the same time. Onny is the most spiritual of the group and she has as a heirloom a book from her grandma that has a "love Potion". The idea is that if you and your "true love" drink the love potion and kisses before midnight you will be bound. Thus, Onny made 3 potions (two for each one of her friends and one for herself) and shenanigans are afoot!
All three stories are super cute and all revolve around Halloween. It's a very good fall read for a YA audience (there is just a very innocent kiss in each story).
Because it's basically three different stories, everything flows very quickly without much depth. If you want something quick and light this is a perfect book!

This was a goodreads giveaway win

Reading this book is a little tricky because it’s actually three separate stories. The overall storyline is that three friends are at a special gala on Halloween where apparently the Lady of moon ridge will help a few lucky people find true love. So the book is broken into three sections one for each of the friends. The first is Onny, who hopes to create a potion for herself and two friends so they might find their true loves. Then it’s followed by Ash and then True.

Onny’s storyline is first. Honestly I found her story pretty vanilla and predictable. This storyline alone I would give three stars. It wasn’t that I hated it it’s just it was so simplistic. So my expectations were pretty low when I got to the next story about Ash. Now his storyline I liked a lot more and same with True’s. Without spoiling anything they’re both a little predictable in how exactly they are going to end but the storyline for how they get to the ending was much more interesting and I was definitely hooked to the plot line way more. Because of the better storylines for the second and third sections I gave this book 4 out of five stars.
