A somber meditation on the art of Japanese tea ceremonies, where tradition contends with grace & vulgarity.
Told through the silent, deliberate gestures of tea, Kawabata created a story that reminded me of the sight of withered camellia petals floating on the surface of a puddle, or the scent of old incense clinging to silk. Moving like mist over a forgotten garden, where nothing overt happens, yet the air is thick with unspoken grief, lingering desire, and unresolvable tension. It’s a world where perceptions & deeds carry more weight than words, and where every beautiful thing seems marked by a quiet, inevitable decay ~

I need to read this again. it was quite different to anything I have read recently.
