Finally!

This series has been so underwhelming.  I keep reading it because I feel like it’s going  to get better at some point. The start of this book had me thinking this wasn’t going to be any better. The hit and run motive and confession was such nonsense. Thankfully it led to finally finding out what happened to Cate and Tessa’s best friend, Samantha. And that’s when it finally got good! The discovery and the events that followed made my jaw drop. The outcome was satisfying. This book ended on a good note. I hope the rest of the series can maintain the momentum.

Whew… there were some hairy situations. So glad Cate got her head out of her ass. Need more Logan!

This book started off slowly, and I did not have high hopes, but it picked up and ended up being a very satisfying entry in the series. One of my initial annoyances was the initial solution to the series mystery of the fate of Cate and Tessa’s childhood friend, Samantha, but I ended up really liking what they did with the story. The authors really seem to have hit their groove with this series, and the last two books have been much better than the first two. Apparently there will be at least two more books in the series, and I’m interested to see where they go now that the central mystery has been solved. I’m invested in these characters!

Bred in Bone is the fourth book in the Widow's Island series. What seems like a pretty cut and dry hit and run has a surprising connection to the disappearance of Tessa and Cate's childhood friend twenty-years ago. Just when it seems everything is explained a surprising trip to the mainland changes everything Tessa and Cate thought they knew. This fast paced installment by Kendra Elliott captivated me with it's many unexpected twists and turns.

The town drunk has just been killed, but by whom? If you're expecting a lot here, let me just tell you that this gets resolved rather quickly. In fact, the hit-and-run is not the main event of this novel. Instead, Cate begins looking deeper into Samantha's disappearance (which happened 20 years ago).

I enjoy the simplicity of these quick little novellas. Great for a quick audible listen.
