I love a good cosy mystery and I love a solid crime story and for me, this managed to nail book genres beautifully. A diverse group of retirees, an 'odd couple' style pair of coppers and a mystery that keeps you guessing to the end, what's not to like. This book makes me look forward to being a trouble maker in a retirement village when I get older!

This was a cozy and enjoyable mystery. The characters were all lovable and overall, the story was just the right level of quirky for my taste. The narrative requires a bit of a suspension of disbelief (looking at you Elizabeth with the 1293847 connections). Still, I appreciated the lighter tone here in contrast to the usually bleaker crime book.

The pacing was great and the mystery was compelling with just the right amount of red hearings.

I loved the premise of the book and cannot believe I haven’t come across it before (aside from Miss Marple). What I really love is that the elderly are portrayed as intelligent and valuable. At first I thought it was quaint that they formed a murder club within their elderly community, but then their backgrounds were shared and I knew we would see what they still have to offer. There are the cozy mystery deaths and also deaths with deeper meaning and more exploration. Human flaws and secrets are revealed, and while the present is murderous and haunting, so is the past.

It was a good read! If you want something that is fun and fast, this is a great books. There was a lot of characters and I would get confused a time. I did not expect the end at all. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel
