Do not cross the King. Never, ever go in the river. Don’t trust the liar.
The Liar of Red Valley written by Walter Goodwater is a stunning and incredibly gripping horror & urban fantasy novel. I'm not a frequent reader of the horror genre, but I devoured this book.
After her mother, the town's Liar passes away, it is assumed that her daughter Sadie will take up the role. Sadie over the course of the novel has to learn the cost of these powers and figure out who lies and who can be trusted.
I thought the characters were well written, and I loved following Sadie on her journey. The side characters definitely shined as well.
If you're a fan of horrors/thrillers, definitely pick up this book! I give The Liar of Red Valley 4 stars. Thank you so much to Solaris and NetGalley for the eARC, I appreciate it.

I really liked the concept from the beginning with the Liar idea and her abilities she inherited,. Sadie had suddenly to become the Liar and keep secrets of everyone making her the biggest target in town. Everyone wants to know those secrets. There was a lot of different villains, all completely different and were all compelling enough, I really loved the Laughing Boys especially, they could creep me out. honestly with those demons on their head. All magical character were very interesting there was no one left out.
Also this gay couple out of time! I need more of them, they seem to have an amazing story to tell

This is how you write a good book. You take a character—Sadie in our case—and plop her there, front and center. Backstory? Sure, when and if it becomes relevant, it can be sprinkled throughout the story. Infodump of any kind at the beginning? No. There’s the MC, there’s the (relevant again) setting, and there’s trouble brewing on the horizon. Nothing more is needed.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect based on the synopsis, and I'm glad I read The Liar of Red Valley@ The world building is fantastic, and the characters are so much fun to follow, particularly Sadie. This creepy thriller will keep you engrossed until the last page.

WOW! It's one of those books that should be rated 10/5 as it's brilliant, riveting and gripping.
Three rules to rule them: Do not cross the King/Do not go in the River/Do not trust the Liar
We meet the Liar at the beginning of the book and learn something about her. But things change as Sadie, the daughter, becomes the new Liar.
The world building is fascinating, we know that it talks about this century but it could anytime or anywhere.
Sadie is great character and I like her. The plot is told by different POVS but hers are the best parts.
The author is a talented storyteller and the story kept me reading and turning pages.
I know I'm late to the party but I feel like I discovered a gems.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
