I loved the plot and characters of the play. However, the language is very hard to comprehend, which is understandable due to the fact that it was written in the 18th century.

I really loved reading this after not reading Romeo and Juliet since high school. Some things about the text seem new to me now (particularly Juliet maybe using Romeo to escape her father and a marriage she doesn't want). Through this lens the story is more tragic and more heady than I ever gave it credit for. Often, I think when we read this class we dismiss Romeo and Juliet as stupid teenagers infatuated with each other, but there's much more to it than that.
