Beauty is a whole new...Beast. Nothing is the same. No one is safe from the truth.

There is a fine line between love and hate- so they say. I'd say these two have it mastered. Darkness calls to darkness and Lord help everyone in the way.

The twists and turns in the psyche of these two will get you lost. Finding the truth may cause more rifts...and in the end only the strong survive.

I found I liked Beast more in this one. I was able to understand him better than in his book. It made it more enjoyable. I liked the change in dynamics between them. It somehow made their "relationship" more real. So take a walk on the dark side...

The perfect ending to this amazing series. This is the second book and it is not a standalone. You have to read Beast first. Beauty picked right up where you got left hanging in Beast. I love when there is that easy transition between books. Beauty AKA Frankie is finally free from the Beast. But is she really? I can guarantee her heart isnt free from him. Not by a long shot.
I absolutely loved the darkness and the sensitive subject matter, it is just as riveting and intense as it was in the first book. That honestly in my opinion is what makes this book so good. It is gripping and has you wanting more from what is going on. There are many twists and turns in this story that had me on some very interesting paths with some very unexpected exciting conclusions. I absolutely love Beauty AKA Frankie. There is just something about her character that you fall in love with. She may have escaped the Beast but she doesnt realize that he is actually what she craves. This book is intense in that the Beast becomes the prey unlike the first book where Beauty was the Prey.I absolutely loved these two together.
This was an epic finish. Absolutely loved this book, this series. Highly recommend reading this series

4.5 stars
So I really adored Beauty: The End (Hate Story, #2) by Mary Catherine Gebhard,
I would love to have given this the full five stars, but I removed half a star as there was something that really bugged the hell out of me, it so got my goat and I Will reveal all later.
So first things first folks, this is part two of our very screwed up dark beauty and the beast tale, a story of a mafia boss and his princess and it's quite a ride let me tell you.
We last left these two (and I'm assuming you have read Beast so this won't be a spoiler for you) with Frankie escaping Beast/Anteros, this is not without a little help from those she assumes will provide the sense of family and affection she craves.
She leaves Beast with her personal calling card, permanently etched over his heart.
Sweet!!!
Beast being a true psychotic and with a truly unfathomable reasoning process, becomes even more enamoured with Frankie (eye roll) I know, I know, it's not romantic but it really sort of is for these two. you so have to be there to get it.
So In "Beauty" our two star-crossed lovers are on opposite sides of a war zone with both sides wrestling for power and Frankie and beast finally realising none of it really matters unless they're going to reign side by side together.
Frankie realises she's gone from the frying pan into the fire and that the grass isn't always greener.
Beast is trying to gain back his respect from his wolves, while also protecting Frankie.
Gone are the suits, our beast is back in all his full glory, finally set free by Frankie's darkness, both feeding the other's corrupt soul.

"His bloody fingers smudged the paper as he turned to the words that had brought the Beast—the real Beast—back. Frankie had drawn a messy black line beneath the sentence Better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven, and underneath it, she’d written, Let me fall with you, Lucifer".

"I’ll catch you, mio cuore. Be my queen".

"Beauty" has action in spades and there's certainly never a dull moment to be had.
It is also so much darker than "Beast" hence I really should warn you that this deals with a lot of sensitive subjects.
There's Murder, Blackmail, torture, human trafficking, rape (not of our Frankie).
Lots of blood as Frankie realises she is Anteros female mirror and shes just as dark as him, the two becoming closer as Frankie's true nature emerges.
and this is where I tell you why I removed half a star and I'm hiding it as it's a big ole spoiler.

.SO BEWARE!!! SPOILER!!! SPOILER!! ALERT!!!
Spoilerwhen Anteros/Beast thinks Frankie has betrayed him he hands her over to his wolves for disposal, he does have a change of heart, like right at the last minute, but she still gets shot in the arm and falls into the water at the docks resulting in Anteros/Beast having to dive in and save her sexy arse.
She instantly forgives him, like zero, animosity that he was prepared to have her murdered, shes actually horny!!! with a big old hole in her arm.
SAY WHAT!!!!!
Later she finds out he's kept the contents of a letter secret from her to protect her and she freaks out, says she no longer loves him and he's betrayed her!!! and she leaves him!!
So let's just weigh this up for a second, He takes Frankie to the docks, naked in the boot of a car and was going to get his wolves to shoot her and weigh her down with blocks, she gets shot and nearly drowns. but this is A-OK
Keeping a letter private for the persons own good is a NO NO and a hating offence.
nope still not getting it half a star knocked off because in this instance Frankie is illogical and stupid

Also, can I just say I had to google Postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS) for short, just out of curiosity, I was convinced it was a made-up illness, but nope my bad, turns out it's very real.
So there you go "POTS" is real people.

And just well I'm spouting random stuff, I will give you this passage from "beauty" that made me smile. it's a spoiler so have hidden it.

Spoiler“Man, this Family is so fucked up,” Frankie said after a few moments, voice low. “My parents are brother and sister, but being gay is bad. When we take over, everyone can love whoever the fuck they want—except siblings. I feel like that should definitely be a hard limit.”

And this one,

“You were never taught any manners.” “Must be the lack of parental influence,” I snapped. “Or maybe it’s because my parents were fucking demented Flowers in the Attic rejects.”

and I'll leave you with this one as it's such an AW!! moment

Francesca "Frankie" Notte is the Pavoni Princess and has killed the Big O, a member of the Wolves. She has been taken by her Grandma Lucia away from Anteros, her enemy.

Anteros can't stop thinking about Frankie and is torn between wanting her and ruling the Wolves. He was supposed to kill her but now doesn't think he can with how he feels about her.

Yet nothing is simple and as both Frankie and Anteros learn who has betrayed them and who is actually trying to help them and the two will have to try and figure out each of their own plans.

Will the love they had for each other bring them back together or cause their respective downfalls?

This was a super interesting conclusion to Beauty. There were a lot of twists and turns that I really didn't expect.

Frankie was interesting in that she was torn between her love for Anteros and now being deemed the Pavoni Princess which seemed to come with a lot of baggage. She was being framed by Nikolai and really had no one to turn to. She knew she couldn't trust her "family" and I was shocked at what they had planned for her.

Anteros was also a very confused guy as he knew he loved Frankie but hated that it looked like she was trying to destroy him. I was shocked at what he had asked Crazy A to do to Frankie. Then Anteros totally shocked me with what happened down at the pier.

Frankie and Anteros had such an intense love and just couldn't stay away no matter who ended up at risk. The ending was so risky with a few more twists I didn't see coming!

So many yeses

Can't believe it took me this long to read this story. To his author has been on my radar for a while, and I'm so glad I chose this duet to begin with!

This story was sinfully delicious. It's dark, depraved, and has an addicting storyline that will have you binge reading it. This second part of the story paints a vivid image of how true love can transform even the cruelest, most tainted people.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between Beast and Frankie. Their connection was perfectly addicting. Reminiscing on how they were with each other in book 1 compared to this book is it's own kind of fun. I loved reading how the big bad Beast turns soft for Frankie. Another perfect example of how even a wickedly powerful man can be brought to his knees by the right woman.

I love love loved this story. 5 stars for this dark duet.

Now this is what I was waiting for!!!!!

This is the Beast I wanted in the first book. The brutality, and harshness. The no fucks given...this is what we got and I revelled in.

After the cliffy we got in book 1 I was eager for this book and Mary has delivered tenfold.

Anteros is a badass motherfucker again and he's taking no prisoners.
Frankie is finally opening her eyes to everything around her and the darkness within.

A war is brewing and deceptions are growing. But who will come out on top and who will fall??

The lies, the deceit, the blood...I absolutely loved what Mary has done with this book and I couldn't be more happy.

A huuuuge and well deserved 4* read for me.

❝ We’d destroyed each other, so together we could rise from the ashes. ❞

Beauty, which is book two of the Hate Story duet, gave me everything I was looking for. There was angst, suspense, murder, mystery, some more angst, hot sex, some more murder, betrayals out the ying yang, and such incredibly fierce yet twisted love. Frankie was determined to learn more about her family through her long-lost grandmother and Beast was busy trying to maintain his hold over the underground, finding a way to defeat the Pavoni family, and figuring out a way to have his Frankie and eat her too.

❝ The Beast had always been lethal, but now… he was mythic. ❞

Frankie and Beast are now on opposite sides and only one family can win. Who will survive? How can they ever be together? And just who in the hell are Frankie’s parents? It felt a little bit like a feral version of Romeo and Juliet, with a lot more descriptive sex and a lot more bloodshed. Destined to be enemies but their hearts beat as one. Their love was inevitable and undeniable and not even a blood war was going to tear these two apart.

❝ My heart cried for him. Beating, bruised, or broken - it would always find him. ❞

Beast was so insanely hot in this book. He was just as deadly as expected, but with his newfound heart, he was also dedicated, loving and protective. I loved getting the chance to further explore this new side of him. I’m just glad it didn’t make him a complete softie. As for Frankie, I must admit she frustrated me with her ignorance and naivete, but then I have to remind myself that she was only 20 years old and had lived a sheltered life. So some of her actions were maybe not relatable, but understandable. However, when she finally came into her own, when she finally became the woman that Beast had glimpsed, I was beyond excited. He had finally found someone to swim in the darkness with him but who also exposed him to the light.

❝ Let’s take what’s ours. Let’s rule together. ❞

MCG has officially found a new fan in me. If this duet is anything to go by, I can’t wait to dive into the rest of her work. I don’t know if I’ll find another hero as amazingly hot as Beast, but I can sure as hell hope.
