I was not expecting this memoir to be what it is. This is a story about a woman growing up in a family that was Mormon and in their intense devotion to all that her dad had preached and known to be true. I was not prepared for the violence and the injuries and the neglect and the abuse. So many trigger warnings are present here. But I am so glad Tara got an education separate from her family home and was able to find her true self through many trials and tribulations. Tara is an excellent writer and I will read whatever she writes in the future.
