i strongly dislike evan hansen. i just can't get behind him and his actions. given the context and his mental health, yes he has issues but i still believe that he knew what he was doing.
especially getting with zoe. it just feels icky. i am glad he gets what he deserves at the end. he loses everything.
but, i can't help but sympathize, i can't act like i would do any better in his situation. we are only human. musical is decent tho.

Good read if you couldn’t see the play.
I didn’t really like the fact that we got Connor’s POV after he passed.

This book gives more detail about the characters than the musical does.
Chapters are divided between Evan Hansen’s POV and Connor Murphy’s POV; both boys share similarities with their perspectives.

This book does have difficult subject matter and adult language but this story still matters in today’s world!

Meh. Another author trying to bring across a point by repeating it over. And over. And over. The plot is just too thin. Evan Hansen accidentally gets mistaken for the best friend of a boy who committed suicide. Then, we are treated to over 200 pages of Evan explaining how he's so anxious and beating himself up over his choices, without actually doing anything about it. The whole teenage angst is just a bit extreme, unpredictable and lacking credibility, both Connor and Evan act like they are 3, not 17. The book is an easy read, and I suppose some teens may enjoy it. It's not terrible. It just doesn't have much going for it. For me, Mark Evan Hansen remains meh.
