A beautiful meditation on grief and belonging and the power of poetry. Even before the main character discovers the latter, his narration is filled with beautiful images and language. His journey from self-doubt to confidence is believable, and his affection for his rural hometown lovely. Highly recommended.

It was okay. The storyline worked well however I am not a big poetry fan. The character build was good. Be aware that if you don't like the F word it is in the book several times. There is also a sexual assault scene in the book. It is very low on the graphic scale though

Wow. Up there with the best I’ve read in 2021. I love a small town hero. This one is a tear jerker and will hit you right to the core.

This book is beautifully written! However, it is also sad and poignant, and 100% worth the read. It does not read like a typical YA novel.
