This is a great book for young adults (and older adults) to read - the author is deeply honest and self reflective about his life, including mistakes he's made and things he's changed his mind about. He addresses these issues with a lot of compassion for himself and the others involved. His writing voice is slightly sarcastic without becoming insincere. Would definitely recommend!

I cannot wait for his next book!!

I thought perhaps my problem was my lack of devotion, my childish insistence that love and work and the big things in life ought to be spectacular and not, more astutely, daily chores.

I have been following JP for a while and I can't believe it took me this long to read his book. I love JP's style -humoristic, yet deeply emotive, always with striking sentences that go straight to my heart. From this collection I especially loved How to Lose a Rabbit and How to Kiss Your Girlfriend, and there were some really insightful thoughts on How to Be a Real Mexican. I just... generally loved it all, how sad it made me while making me laugh. I wish nothing but the best for JP, and I'll be hoping this isn't the last book we read of such a talented writer.

I appreciated that this book had a distinct voice and POV. There were some very touching moments but ultimately the writing style did not connect with me.
