I had been really looking forward to reading this, and it did not at all disappoint me. Words of wisdom written with grace and self awareness, wide open empathy and plenty of curiosity. I really appreciate the way that JP shares and analyses his own life, twisting relatable and very human moments into careful introspective and gentle words of comfort and advice. Loved it!

this was good. i have NO IDEA who the author is so it was good to get to know them through this. i didn't love that this was written as a Q & A submission, but it was so creative regardless of whether i liked it or not. i would read from this author again.
This was a pretty open, vulnerable, and invitingly written memoir from someone who seems like a generally cool guy. For some reason there was a little disconnect that persisted for me through the whole thing, and that kept it from being as impact full as I think it could have been. But it gets lots of brownie points for a stunning description of the power of live musical theater in one of the later essays. Love musical theater.

Brammer is such an incredibly talent writer. His stories seamlessly move from laughter to tears in a way that made this book impossible to put down. While there is nothing "common" about these memories, the emotions Brammer evokes are universal, especially within the queer community. I walked away feeling more at peace with the craziness of life and less alone in struggling to make sense of it.

I adored this book, John Paul in his extremely reflective and insightful book beautifully tells the tale of his own experience as a gay latino making it as a writer.
There are many quotes in this book that are deeply meaningful in my own life and his vulnerability shines through in his honesty.
A future re-read will be certain.
