I am a long time Hola Papi reader, and an even longer JP twitter follower. This book did not disappoint! I do hope it’s the first in a long and healthy writing career. Brammer brings a wonderful and clear voice to his storytelling and reflections. He grows and learns, but in fits and starts and with much back peddling. There are like 3 or 4 essays about ill fated road-trips to Texas; the repeat experience that you keep thinking will be fun but never is (but is still the only thing you can really afford to attempt) was, erm, very familiar to me. Ah, youth!

DID NOT FINISH: 54%

I did enjoy reading it but I got to a point where I paused and asked, do I actually care enough to finish? Am I getting enough out of this memoir? And I didn’t/wasn’t, so I’m putting it down.

Short with some entertaining and insightful parts but overall not my favorite

You don’t have to be from the LGBTQ community to read this book. This is written by a guy who is an advice columnist for a gay dating app and each chapter poses a different question to him and his answer draws on some part of his life and the lessons he has learnt along the way. So it’s part memoir part life advice. I loved his outlook on things and regardless of who you are and what your background I think there will be something to relate to in this book. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
