About: On her return from wedding preparations Merit hurries into Sullivan’s office to leave him a note. But instead of finding him there, or just an empty room as was more expected, she runs into a poorly looking man. He, looking irritated, and like he had no sleep for weeks to go, is getting more and more agitated, demanding the screaming to stop. After a short little brawl that ends him in a hospital, where he does recover, the episode reoccurs on a broader scale. Mostly among people who were at the epicenter of Alchemical Magic explosion from the previous book. People are driven nuts by the voices in their head, fighting each other, fighting others. And if that’s not enough, the rest of the Chicago is about to turn against vampires and other supernaturals too. For the air is tinged with an odd smell, and ever dropping cold that has already encased their lake in solid ice, and will likely kill all the flora that isn’t used to surviving Chicago’s winters. Something dark is brewing, and it is very, very angry…

Mine: Wichcraft and Alchemy got separated very clearly here. Author used such real life mystery sources as Voynich manuscript for a big portion of the magic present, and while I believe the translation of the said manuscript was much too simple, I do still like what was made using it. And how they fought against it. Other than some good battles, and Merit’s sudden loss of apetite while in moral debates over whether she even wants a child in a world like this, it wasn’t all that bad and teeth-rotting sweet as I feared. I shouldn’t have said “other than” there, I know, makes no sense. Anyway, Merit and Sullivan got married. They had a baby at the very end of the book, thus skipping the often annoying part of a lot of fiction where hero is going through her first pregnancy. They all gathered for a birthday party with their kids, and each one had a very different experience on parenting. A fair ending.

From what I gather now, I think author simply got too big of a goal set for her, or set for herself. Three hundred pages per thirteen books can’t be an easy task even if you do have lots and lots of ideas. Thus some books lost their plot quality, some even very greatly. But, other than that, and this time I am using it in the right place, on the right time, her humor always remained good and simple, cracking me up time, and time again. Vampires were decent, for I still don’t appreciate them being so human-like. Shifters were even better. So the last book gets a solid 4 out of 5 from me. And now they got to the bottom of my e-shelf, for I am absolutely done.

Blade Bound is the final book in the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill.

Ms. Neill did a wonderful job wrapping up this series. It was nice to finally see Ethan and Merit tie the not, but with the big day coming closer, so does trouble. Their was mystery as well as action. I enjoyed seeing the gang; all the previous characters come together to help Merit.

I adored the wedding preparations, bridle shower, reception and the whole thing. It was done beautiful, but of course it don’t take long; before chaos breaks out and our gang is together trying to figure it all out and keep Chicago safe.

Blade Bound was an enjoyable read and I’m satisfied with the conclusion. I had a delightful time getting to know Merit, Ethan, and friends throughout the series. It was an engaging series to read, but not one I will be revisiting. I might be checking out the spin-off series;
Spoilerwhich will feature Ethan and Merits, daughter.

I found this series when book 1 was published and have been loving each book each time that follows. This book was no exception, even though I knew it was the last in the series I was still counting down to find out how it concluded. This book was amazing and a great conclusion, it has the right amount of action and romance which fits Merit and Ethan perfectly. It also has some great humour, I mean how can we forget Darth Sullivan.

I loved the way the characters feel like old friends at this point but Chloe Neill still manages to get to keep the story fresh and exciting

The writing style of Chloe Neill is fantastic, evoking emotion and suspense throughout. I just hope that we have some spin off stories as I will miss the characters.

I loved this book and series, I would not hesitate in recommending this series for others to read.

Great end to a great series! Starting and finishing this book was harder than I thought it would be ... what would normally take 6 -7 hours took days because I just didn't want it to end. I wish there were more adventures of Ethan, Merit, Omnibuddies and other cast of characters but alas that is not to be. Was a GREAT read!

Looking forward to the continued adventures of Elisa and friends!

 For those of you who didn’t read all of the previous books in the Chicagoland Vampires series this review may contain some minor spoilers.

This book provided me with a bittersweet experience as I was looking forward to a particular event that’s supposed to happen in this story but this also means that one of my favorite paranormal series comes to an end. But to be honest with you I completely satisfied with how Merit and Ethan adventures came to a conclusion, the story arch thorough the series followed a beautiful and exciting path until it reached a peaceful and happy point.
Merit is a little bit different from her usual headstrong, confident and initiative self. At the beginning of the story she is serene and happy but she feels that something is coming, waiting for the other shoe to drop. After said shoe drops in a quite spectacular way she starts to doubt herself. She is still brave and runs into danger if she needed but she starts to question her future and it’s a bit unusual from her. It dampens the mood of the plot and its true for the whole book, the more sedate atmosphere and it’s not so energetic than the previous books Merit and Ethan is more passive in this story than in others. The limelight is more focused on Mallory this time; she is the one who works on solutions and such.
I have to problem with the book but only one of them is something that is really relevant the other is just a personal thing. The relevant one is that I think the storyline is not balanced well. I mean this is a 380 pages story and over 100 of this concentrates on the wedding which is cute and happy but for me it had an epilogue-y feeling and nothing eventful went down during this period. This part of the plot is too detailed for my taste. I need action. Not to mention after the happy- go-lucky atmosphere this particular event creates there is a really sharp negative change mood wise.
The other thing that bothered me was the fact that the whole series which is 13 books is takes place a little over than a year. It never really occurred to me to follow the dates and such in the books but the huge amount of conflict that goes on in the stories suggest a longer period of time. For it only being a year I just couldn’t wrap my head around it and unfortunately I couldn’t avoid it either because it’s mentioned at least 10 times during the story. But as I said earlier this one is just a personal thing.
The characters settle every question, emotional or otherwise that ever occurred in the books they encounter every supernatural faction they ever met in the stories even if only briefly and some already resolved issues rear their head time to time. So this book kinda brings back memories from Merit journey to becoming a fierce protector of Chicago and the vampires. I really pleased with how things went down and especially loved the last chapter in which we are witnesses an adorable encounter which also foreshadows the possible new lead of the rumored spin-off series.

French & English reviews

- ENFIN on sait comment Merit

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The last book of a series that enchanted me then disappointed then enchanted again =D
What I particularly liked:
- the wedding !!! (Even though I could have killed Merit's family ... UH !!)
- the bachelorette party (literature, chocolate and shirtless guys ... <3)
- FINALLY we know how Merit
Spoilergets to be pregnant AND to be able to not lose the baby
... And I loved the explanation, it was very subtle and I confess that I didn't expect it at all ><
Which bothered me a bit:
- I would have loved to see
Spoilerpregnant Merit, see her wandering with a huge belly, have strange food cravings ... I found that the passage of "she learns that she is pregnant" to "pof I have a child "was too fast ><
- Ethan's nickname for Merit ... But it's personal >< Being a fan of KA with Nina and Max, it disturbed me a bit x)
For me the conclusion of this series is perfect = D We have a real end for Ethan and Merit, we have all our answers aaaaand we open the door to a spin-off with the new generation (I SO CAN'T WAIT *O*)
Good end to the series... and can't wait to see what the next generation gets up to! But I now think that all PNR or UF need to come with an Supernatural Debacle Bingo card! Favorite line of the book, closely followed by some of Ethan's comments to Merit <3
