This was a very surprising book to read. I spent a loooooong time reading it because I really wanted to give it my time and I didn't want it to end. It is not just a book about unlocking your creativity, it unlocks how to have meaning and happiness in everything you do, to give to opportunity to write down your goals.

I loved writing in this book, it will be a keepsake, it has been a complete joy to read.

I did not do the reflections as I went through but I liked that they were there. I enjoyed the anecdotes throughout and the advice like this for artists is always the same vague ideas but I liked the book design with quote pages and it was in very short chapters so quite approachable.

A good quick book to listen to. I have always known that creativity and creating in different forms is important to me and is when I actually connect to my truest self. This book refreshed the concepts I know in my heart and hopefully will encourage me to reignite creating as a priority.

Somewhat generic inspirational talk, some examples from her life, some anecdotes from other creative people.

If you like making things, and you feel that creating art/craft/objects/whatever makes your heart at peace, then you will dig this book. It's really about carving out time for yourself and the things that make you feel happy, even if they are not the things that make you money or answer your responsibilities. "hobbies" sound unimportant. But they are very important. The mediation, the dedication, the devotion of art and craft is as important as religion, as physical sustenance, as doing laundry.
This book is about reminding you that your life's pursuits are important. It also tries to give you concrete ways to remind yourself.

The premise of the book is enriching your life through the power of hobbies, it shows us how hobbies are an integral part of our lives and how they contribute to our happiness. Amy uses her own personal experiences to carve out instances where her hobbies have helped shape her into who she is today. The book is very inspiring to me as a person who’s just getting started on her own slew of hobbies and finds them fun while also navigating the challenges that come as a beginner. This book was a great reminder that you should keep going even when it gets hard and to believe in your inner strength and creativity.
The book also wants to establish how hobbies can be a form of self care and how taking time out for them helps you play a more present role in your life - personally and professionally. I never thought of it this way and it felt good to put into words what I was failing to articulate to myself before. I commend Amy for writing a book recounting her wins and losses and then letting the readers take a peek into her mind at times of adversity. When she talked about her failures in life and how they were nerve wracking and how this ended with her being nudged to the right path. Reading such intimate moments of a persons’ life can be equally motivating and sympathizing.
I loved how the book had journal prompts that made you take a pause and reflect not just on what you learned but also how that resonates with you and write it out. It was unlike any book I had picked up before but a great process nevertheless. The way she talked about hobbies being a reflection of who we are and how it can help us find our way back to ourselves when we feel lost really called out to me as I’ve personally experienced this.
The way she gives us an insight to her life with quotes that call out to you and then ends the chapter with a journal prompt would forever be my favorite way of explaining things. My favorite examples would be the ones where her life was redirected to the right place after a major setback, it was like a blessing in disguise. The ones at the top of my head would be when she moved to LA leaving everything behind and was given a difficult choice but she didn't let it deter her only to have another better opportunity waiting for her. Another would be how her failure to deliver her order made her realize that she was taking on too much and spreading herself too thinly for it to work. The realization of her being ‘I can do it all’ was really relatable to me

I had been in a huge creative rut the last year and really needed some inspiration to get creating again. This book really inspired me to make changes to my life and make more room and intentions for doing the things that I love. So important to intentionally make time to be creative and have fun on a regular basis!

Pretty neutral on this. The message is good, but not anything I haven't already heard, though I'm well read in self development.
