While I did enjoy the darkness of the book for the most part, I really can’t get past the decision for

Camille to sleep with John. Isn’t the age difference like 15 years? And I don’t see how it contributed to the plot.

The other reason I wouldn’t rate this super high is that it was a bit predictable.

The first maybe 30% of this book I found really hard to get into. I didn't particularly enjoy the main character and it wasn't until the book delved into her past more that the book became interesting. Once that happened I did enjoy it. Both twists were very predictable-which is fine- but the ending felt very rushed, especially compared to the rest of the book. I feel like it should have been fleshed out more. I also didn't particularly like how the author described the thirteen year olds in the story. I think that those characters could have behaved in the same way without the author describing their bodies the way she did. (It just felt weird to read.)

Very dark. Left me a little messed up after. The weirdest part is that there is a lot of sexualization of the teenage girl in this, largely from her sister's POV. That left a bad taste in my mouth more than anything else in the novel. 

Non optimistic ending. Felt very true to Flynn form.

Three star because I liked it but don’t think it’ll be a lasting fave 
But four star bc I do think it’s a very well done thriller with a main character I actually liked, even tho I guessed the killer in the first quarter of it.
