Samantha Irby is really funny and I enjoyed her fun writing style. But, (not to sound like an old lady) her content was so inundated with expletives (like, a LOT), that this read was rather crass and somewhat off-putting.

I loved the periodic mentions of her 14-year career as a receptionist at an animal hospital! Can we get a complete book about the savage insanity that is working in vet med? The world needs that book, and we need it from Sam Irby!

More generally, WOW, NO THANK YOU is funny, revealing, and insightful. It’s also a little long. You have to sustain the mood for this particular style of humor, especially because her comedic style has a few characteristics that get repetitive.

The audiobook performance is outstanding.

My first book of essays to have read -- and as soon as I finished, I ordered 2 more.

I took this book on a holiday and it was a great choice. Easy, breezy and funny but still with substance. Irby is very clever and excellent at finding humour and absurdity in the underlay of everyday domestic life. I did find her self-deprecation a bit extreme at times, even though it seemed (?) like it was really a bit more of a shtick than genuine self-loathing (I hope?). Keen to read more of her work.

I enjoyed the author's stories and her writing style. She made me laugh a few times and left me curious about her life; I'll be reading her other books too!
