Excelente livro de divulgação de ciência para introdução aos buracos negros e à física estranha que os rodeia. A autora consegue equilibrar muito bem a narrativa com o aspeto informativo e científico, e está sempre a aguçar-nos a curiosidade.
Como não podia deixar de ser num livro sem equações, não pode ir tão a fundo como eu desejava, e em alguns casos tem de explicar por palavras conceitos que mais facilmente seriam explicados por equações.
De qualquer forma, é um ótimo livro para todos os que queiram saber mais sobre buracos negros. Mesmo os mais conhecedores vão ser desafiados pelos paradoxos e hipóteses diccutidos nos últimos capítulos.

When I told my astronomy teacher friend that I had picked this up, and was looking forward to finishing it over the weekend, she sort of laughed at me.

At the time, I was mildly offended, but she was right. This is a dense little book.

It's beautifully written, and its imaginative analogies try to make some very complex ideas clear. I'd like to say that I now understand those ideas, but these are slippery ideas. The hologram chapter slipped entirely out of my mind several times, and I think I need to read a few more books on the topic.

Hopefully books by Janna Levin!

This book is like sitting in front of my grandparents’ AC unit blasting on max in the middle of a Midwest summer… the words and the concepts are just blowing past me… I cannottt grasp it…. but I love the experience of it just the same.
