Park Avenue is a contemporary family drama about an ambitious young lawyer who is hired to work for a wealthy Korean-American family.
Jia Song is a new junior partner at a successful New York City law firm when she’s asked to help with the account of the high-profile Park family, the founders of a cosmetics empire. The patriarch has abandoned his ailing wife, and their adult children suspect he’s hiding money in offshore accounts. Jia finds herself in the middle of complex family dynamics, old grudges, and a massive fortune on the line. But if she can find proof that Seven Park is hiding assets and falsifying his net worth, she’ll continue her upward trajectory to full partner—and finally get the coveted Hermès bag she’s dreamed of her whole life.
Park Avenue is a family drama with a splash of mystery and romance. There are vivid descriptions of travel, posh lifestyles, food, and the unique experience of being a child of immigrants. I think readers will enjoy the drama and humor of this smart, accomplished young woman chasing her dreams.

Loved this page-turner about a lawyer (Jia Song) drawn into the lives and secrets of the ultra wealthy Park family. Every biological and honorary member of the family has motive for challenging the family fortune and it's up to Jia to uncover the truth about who to trust and how much the family is worth.
There's so much in here about the East Asian immigrant experience -- and the wide variation of it. I was onboard with the first mention of "Korean Korean." Ahdieh unapologetically sprinkles Korean words like gijibae and yuhboh into the book, though towards the end, the Scooby reveal of the caper overtakes the deeper themes on longing.
Vibes: "Fans of Crazy Rich Asians, Schitt's Creek, and White Lotus will get more than their fix of backstabbing and danger." (Kirkus Reviews)

"Don't marry a rich white man, Jia. He'll make it seem like he wants to let you in, make you one of them, but you're never let in. Not really... And my kids?... Who knows if they'll be treated the way their peers are treated, the way they deserve to be treated. That's the part that really gets me...
If I had married Darius, then I would be the one with power. That's always better. I would be the one opening doors for him. No one would look at me as if I'm the one who doesn't belong."
I absolutely loved this book. Our characters were intricately written and fascinating to read about.
The story ever bit as compelling as the best Chaebol filled Korean Drama.
I was hooked from the start, and it kept me hooked throughout.
I'm so thrilled I got the chance to read this book.
An easy five star.
