This caught my attention when I read that it was pitched as Crazy Rich Asians meets Succession, but for me this was just pretty good, not great. The main character felt a little flat, and the mystery of the second narrator was a little unnecessary (although I didn’t hate the surprises and twists of the story).

mysterious

It was a little messy at times but I loved the sumptuous details, the array of untrustworthy characters—and the story was fun, if not completely plausible? Overall, a fun, frothy read. Really liked all the Korean culture details.

A fun, yet emotional summer read, reminiscent of Kevin Kwan and CBC's Kim's Convenience.

Renée Adieh’s PARK AVENUE delivers fast-paced storytelling wrapped in rich themes of identity, family, and belonging. With its breezy narration and glamorous settings, the novel balances escapism with emotional depth.

At the heart of the story is a first-generation protagonist navigating cultural expectations and personal growth. Adieh handles these reflections with warmth and nuance, offering a relatable portrait of straddling two worlds. Family dynamics are central—messy, loving, and deeply human—while female friendships shine as sources of strength and humour.
