Well, that was a surprise, what a charming, quaint story. A mysterious treasure hunt with a whodunnit thrown in for good measure. Decades-old family mystery comes to light with an online date, throwing our main character into a world of intrigue and possibilities that he never expected.

A fun easy read that is packed with interesting characters and good old-fashioned mystery. The tempo of the story is steady and flows well throughout the book. Some thrills and spills interspace throughout as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and will actively seek out other books by this author. Overall a worthwhile read.

All Lies is very much a mystery with a sprinkling of history thrown in for an added bonus. Parts of the story have the feel of a cozy mystery, but that’s quickly remedied as the danger ramps up. I do love a bit of wit with my mystery, and Andrew Cunningham does that quite well. In fact, the opening line serves the dual purpose of being witty while also grabbing the listener’s attention. The story does require a bit of suspension of disbelief, but it is certainly a fun read from start to finish. There are parts that were a little bit predictable, but there are also some wonderful twists thrown in that kept me on my toes.
I really enjoyed the characters in this fast-paced tale. Love them or hate them, and we get some of both, they’re all interesting, and they add something to the story. I love that we don’t have much in the way of throw away characters in this one. Even the secondary characters have their own distinctive personalities, and they were all engaging and fun as they came in and out of the story.
I think this is my first listen with Greg Hernandez, and I did enjoy his storytelling. He kept the voices distinct, and there was a great continuity throughout. When Del spoke, I knew it was Del even before I was told, and it was the same for other major players in this wild ride. I did notice that the reading quality became a little stilted, particularly during romantic scenes. It felt a bit like the narrator was uncomfortable with those parts, like he was simply reading to get through those scenes rather than the storytelling I heard for the rest of the book, but other than that, Hernandez does a great job with bringing the characters to life.
To sum it up, All Lies is a fast paced, entertaining mystery, and if you like a bit of real-life history, Cunningham gives us some of that throughout the book too. The author’s note at the end goes into the specifics on that, and it certainly makes for an interesting element. The story is full of suspense, danger, secrets, and we even get a little romance thrown in for good measure.

All Lies

This book has some issues, and don't even get me started on the audiobook narration, but the story itself is fun and absorbing. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

You know you have to keep listening when the book starts with "I come from a long one of idiots".
It is a feel-good story where everything works out well in the end. It is about a mystery in Del Honeycutt's life that was created by his ancestors. He is joined by the famous mystery writer, Sabrina Spencer, in his quest to find the truth.

Their journey from Boston to Brazil is full of surprises and bullets with a dash of romance.

I think the characters and the plot are well written. The story is not convincing enough though. Things simply work out for the protagonist which is hard to believe. I think this is one those books you finish in a day, when you are not in the mood to think too much.

I am interested in reading the remaining books in the series as I want to see where Del's mysterious ancestors take him.

Narration: I loved Greg Hernandez' voice and his narration. He has a warm voice, he read very clearly and added appropriate expressions.
