The kids at school are crazy for this series and now I can see why! This is the first I've read of Lauren Tarshis's I Survived books and I enjoyed it very much. It is written well, includes so many interesting historical facts, and is an edge-of-your-seat page turner!
The " I Survived" books are a huge hit.

a love of history and has made required reading times much more enjoyable. I was skeptical at some of the topics being too scary for myself, but they are written in a way that is informative and appropriate for any age level. I especially enjoyed this one, set in the Dakota's because that is where the blizzards are during the winter times.

I really like this book because it’s about a boy who is stuck in this really big bad blizzard and he has to find a safe place to stay.

Road trip listen, again. It was the perfect length :) Didn't like it as well as the one about the grizzlies - it was more obviously meant for younger audiences, and the boys becoming friends over hunting a rattlesnake felt contrived and cliched and bothered me.
I read this for my middle-grade book club at the library, and the kids loved it! It was fun to read a fictional story about a historical event and explain how the story impacted children to kids around the same age. We're definitely going to be revisiting this series later in the year.
