I can’t think of anyone who makes fucked up lil egg shaped guys better than Kentarō Miura. I gotta start adding those to dnd. We got Foss and the torturer AND the weird hellraiser style ones talking to Griffith? C’mon.

The Griffith rescue might be my favorite action sequence of this series so far.  Guts taking on the guards single handedly is even better than his 1 v 100 battle.

Basically a whole volume dedicated to a prison escape, with some extra chapters along the way to have some extra "evil foreigner" fights mixed in. There are some really good moments in here, as usual, and some tasty lore mixed in, but mostly it's kind of slow and feels like it could have been only half a volume of time spent. What helps soften the blow is knowing this is very much a transition sorta chapter: lots of set up and getting ready for the increasingly dark story to come.
