This is the third book in a series featuring detective Ulf Varg of Malmo, Sweden, the head of the Department of Sensitive Crimes. Ulf is asked to investigate some attacks on an art historian that have resulted in the man's reputation being tarnished. The series features gentle humor, eccentric characters and perplexing situations. Another entry in a charming series.

Good cozy mystery read. Clever, attractive characters that you can picture in a BritBox mystery show. Really three and a half stars? But you probably have to be a fan of cozy mysteries to like this one. Or a fan of nordic mysteries, because this book does rather poke fun at them. Enjoyed this book more than the Ladies Detective books, so I may try the others in this series. Perfect series to read before bed--will not give you nightmares.

I find these books really soothing, I don't really know why.

A delightful little book written in Smith's signature meandering style. I almost gave it four stars, but after going through one aside after another, the style begins to grow irksome rather than soothing.

That is more a reflection on my mood at the time rather than a comment on the author's skill as a writer. I picked up the book specifically because I know what to expect, know the author's style, and know there will probably not be a tidy end to the mystery at hand.

so, while I only gave three stars, it could have been four, and if you enjoy Smith's writing, you should certainly add this to your to-read list.

Do you like AMS? Of course you do.

I still enjoy this series and will continue reading it should AMS write more books. But this one feels a little flat compared with the first and second entries in the adventures of Detective Varg.

Never did realize the man in the park with the cucumber issue? Or did I miss it somehow?

This is an unusual series, but just a delight. And it always makes me want a cup of coffee...
