It’s like if the movie Groundhog Day was actually Valentine’s Day and it was a cute YA RomCom. Oh and throw in a little Ferris Bueller’s Day Off energy and make the love interest Jess-Mariano-coded…? I’m SAT.

Very cute and very silly, but also has some emotional depth with discussion of loss and loneliness. When I say that Nick Stark is like Jess, I mean that. Because that dude’s a bit of a jerk! 😂

Emilie and Nick are so cute. It definitely feels like a high school romance but the depth of both of their characters was nice. Emilie's family problems and Nick trying to get over his dead brother, Eric. I think I liked Emilie's story a bit better. I thought the repeating day was unique for a book, and kind of magical how Eric's jacket seems to be what helped to end the wretched valentines day repeat. I even liked Jason even after he was being a rat.

The Do-Over

I honestly really like this book. It's very cute, but not that memorable.

One thing that I thought was a bit unrealistic was
the death of nick's brother on Valentines dag AND Emilie's weird time mishap on Valentines day
I just think it's very coincidental, but it is a story, so it makes sense.

I also don't really like that the time mishap doesnt get explained properly. And Emilie is SO CHILL about it! How? I would be crying my eyeballs out. But that's beside the point.

The core story is great, and I like Emilies character. Nick.. on the over hand... I get that he's a bad boy, okay? But he's just so meh.

It's not a bad book though! I'd re-read it, and recommend for a fun time. (It did bring me into a reading slump, but I think that's a me thing)

Those are my thoughts!

This was a nice pallete cleanser, enjoyed when Emilie got out of her shell.
